Premier League round-up: Arsenal fight back, Solanke stuns United, City roll on
Update, October 13: Coventry City completed Matchweek 6 on Monday night with a 4-1 win over Newcastle United, their first Premier League home win in 25 years.
The Premier League's return after the international break delivered a statement win for Manchester City, a comeback for Arsenal and late drama at Old Trafford. Here is how Matchweek 6 played out.
Arsenal come from behind
Arsenal made a sluggish start against Leeds, who had arrived unbeaten, and fell behind when James Justin scored for the visitors early in the second half. The champions responded quickly. Riccardo Calafiori equalised in the 62nd minute from a Ben White pass, and substitute Bruno Guimarães fired the winner eight minutes later after being picked out by Declan Rice. Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford denied Bukayo Saka late on to keep the score at 2-1.
The win came days after Mikel Arteta signed a new contract until 2030, and moves Arsenal to 15 points.
Solanke rescues Spurs
At Old Trafford, Manchester United looked set to win after Bryan Mbeumo scored in the 73rd minute. But ten-man Tottenham refused to give up, and Dominic Solanke struck in stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea run riot
Chelsea produced one of the biggest wins of the weekend, thrashing Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge. Brighton continued their strong start with a 2-0 win at Sunderland, while Ipswich beat Fulham 2-1 at Portman Road. Aston Villa and Brentford shared the points in a 2-2 draw at Villa Park.
Palace spoil Glasner's return
Oliver Glasner's first trip back to Selhurst Park with Nottingham Forest started perfectly when Dan Ndoye scored in the third minute. But Crystal Palace hit back. Daichi Kamada scored his first Premier League goal to equalise, Jefferson Lerma put Palace ahead in first-half stoppage time and Yeremy Pino made it 3-1 just before the hour. ESPN reports it was a first home league win for Palace manager Pierre Sage.
Honours even at Hull
Hull City and Everton played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. According to RTE, Joe Gelhardt put Hull ahead early in the second half before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equalised and Thierno Barry gave Everton the lead. Substitute Mohamed Belloumi levelled in the 74th minute to preserve Hull's unbeaten home record since their return to the top flight.
City make their point at Anfield
The headline result came on Sunday, when Manchester City beat ten-man Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in their first match since being found guilty of financial breaches. Ryan Gravenberch was sent off on 62 minutes, and Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki scored. City remain perfect with 18 points from six games.
Coventry make history
Coventry City closed the round on Monday night with a 4-1 win over Newcastle. Jack Rudoni, Sidiki Cherif, Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni scored for Frank Lampard's side, with Sven Botman replying for Newcastle.
