Update, October 20: Tottenham completed Matchweek 7 on Monday night with a 3-1 win over Coventry City, their first Premier League victory of the season. James Maddison scored a superb opener against his former club, Jack Rudoni equalised, and Omar Marmoush, with his first Spurs goal, and Ben Davies sealed the win. Dejan Kulusevski also returned from long-term injury.

Manchester City's perfect start goes on, Arsenal ground out another win and Brighton made the biggest statement of the weekend. Here is how Matchweek 7 of the Premier League played out.

City make it seven from seven

City were made to work by Ipswich Town at the Etihad but came through 3-2. Phil Foden opened the scoring and Erling Haaland added two more, with Ipswich replying through Daizen Maeda and a late Flemming penalty. Days after their Champions League defeat to PSG, City have now won all seven league games and have 21 points.

Madueke rescues flat Arsenal

Arsenal stayed three points behind thanks to a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest. It was far from convincing. According to ESPN, the champions had just one shot on target all afternoon, and it was enough: substitute Noni Madueke, who replaced Eberechi Eze at half-time, saw his 80th-minute strike deflect past Matz Sels after a Declan Rice assist.

Mikel Arteta defended the display, saying Forest had set up very defensively. ESPN notes that Oliver Glasner's Forest have now failed to score in five home matches in all competitions.

Brighton run riot

Brighton produced the result of the weekend, demolishing Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Amex. An early own goal from Jaydee Canvot was followed by goals from Gomez, Ayari, Kostoulas and Hinshelwood, and Brighton are now third on 16 points.

Isak back on target

Liverpool bounced back from their defeat to City with a 2-1 win at Brentford. Keane Lewis-Potter gave the home side the lead just before half-time, but Victor Muñoz equalised and Alexander Isak, back from the thigh problem that cut short his international break, scored the winner in the 70th minute.

Elsewhere

Pedro Neto scored at the start and end of the second half as Chelsea won 2-0 at Everton to move fourth. Aston Villa won 1-0 at Newcastle, Bournemouth beat Sunderland 2-0 thanks to goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson, and Alex Iwobi's first-half strike gave Fulham a 1-0 win over Hull City. At Elland Road, Bryan Mbeumo put Manchester United ahead before Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised for Leeds early in the second half.
